Secure It Disposals – A Short Guide

Corporate IT recycling is a highly important activity and has not to be taken lightly. There are certain rules and regulations for companies also as far as IT recycling is concerned and failing to do the same as per the norms may cost your company a fortune and mind it, IT recycling is not just about deleting the unwanted files, but there is a definite method of disposal of such data because these days there are many high end softwares available which are able to retrieve the deleted files from your computer also.

Apparently, if it is a large company, then the IT data disposal is not done in-house, the process is outsourced to some Corporate IT data disposal company. These people are highly professional and carry out the disposal activity as per the government rules and regulations.
They make use of basically three standard methods of data disposal.

Overwriting – This method is more a form of recycling than data destruction. Herein the existing data that has to be destroyed is simply overwritten by some other data.

Degaussing – This process of data destruction involves destroying the magnetic field of the disc in order to destroy the data.
Physical Destruction – This is one of the most popular methods of data destruction and includes destroying the data by shredding the disk techniques and more.
